• The Pure Heart. The innocent intentions. Matthew 5:8 Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. • The Harden Heart. The unwillingness to understand. Mark 16:14-20 Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. • The Troubled Heart. The fearful and the worried. The sad and the depressed. John 14:1 Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. • The Foolish Heart. The one who does not accept God as God. The act of not accepting the authority of God. Romans 1:21-32 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Psalm 14:1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that doeth good. Sufficiency: All you need to know of God is found in the Bible. Authority: The Bible is the only authority for faith and practice of faith in God. Plenary: Every word in the Bible is completely God’s words. Proverbs 30:5-6 Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar. Revelation 22:18-19 For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book. Galatians 1:6-9 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, if any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed. Preservation: God has kept His Word intact as to its original writing. Preservation simply means that we can trust the Scriptures because God has sovereignly overseen the process of transmission over the centuries. God has always had a translation that preserved His Words. Matthew 5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Matthew 24:35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. Isaiah 40:8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever. Necessity: The Bible was necessary for mankind. For example Man needed knowledge of God’s plan for salvation, God’s purpose for mankind, and how man is to live life. 1 Corinthians 13:9-10 For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away. Job 31:35 Oh that one would hear me! behold, my desire is, that the Almighty would answer me, and that mine adversary had written a book. Perspicuity: The Bible is written in a common language that is easily understood. The precision of the teachings and themes of the Bible are necessary so that anyone may understand them. God wants you to understand His words. 1 Corinthians 14:9 So likewise ye, except ye utter by the tongue words easy to be understood, how shall it be known what is spoken? for ye shall speak into the air. Colossians 2:2 That their hearts might be comforted, being knit together in love, and unto all riches of the full assurance of understanding, to the acknowledgement of the mystery of God, and of the Father, and of Christ; The three “In” words. Inspired: “Theopneutos” God Breathed. God used human vessels to assist in His writing of the Bible. God is the source of scripture. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 - All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: Inerrant: The Bible has no errors of any sort in composition, history, or science. Hebrews 6:18 - That by two immutable things, in which [it was] impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: Infallible: The Bible is without error “perfect” in the matters of faith, doctrine, and social laws. The perfection of the Author means His Words are perfect. Psalms 119:160 KJV Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever. |
