Do you feel that friends, family members, and others keep pulling you back to your addiction?
What is the best way to prevent them from pulling on you?
The dilemma of every overcoming addict is what to do about family members or friends who use. Addicted family members or friends will insist on you to use again. They liked you when you were an addict, “You were more fun”. There is even a Country song that says, “Ain’t much fun since I quit drinkin”. You will need to have a clear strategy to combat these people. My advice is to avoid them at all cost. They do not have your best interest at heart and they never will. Do not try to convince yourself that you are strong enough to be around them. You have proven time and time again you are not. The Bible teaches you to be aware of what type of friends you have around you.
“Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.” (1Corinthians 15:33)
“Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.” (Proverbs 27:6)
“Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.” (Proverbs 4:14)
“By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted: but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.” (Proverbs 11:11)
“It is not good to accept the person of the wicked, to overthrow the righteous in judgment.” (Proverbs 18:5)
