What the Bible says about being a Consistent Christian:
Hebrews 10:23 - Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; for he is faithful that promised; Christians are to detain (hold back) those things that may cause to us to lean away from our hope (trust) in God. We are to be firm (not wavering) in our faithfulness, for He is faithful to us. Proverbs 3:5 - Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
Acts 17:11 - These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so. The praise of the Thessalonian Christians was twofold: 1. They were eager (readiness of mind) to accept God’s Word 2. They studied God’s Word daily.
Ephesians 6:12 - For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Christians need to be prepared for their spiritual battle against: 1. The principle origin of evil 2. The Lords of darkness in this present time. 3. The Spiritual forces of evil that once dwelled in heaven. Can you really do this alone?
Ephesians 2:10 - For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them. Christians are God’s creation to preform good works and He has determined that are to grow in them. Matthew 5:16 - Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
James 2:18 - Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. James 2:26 - For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. Anyone can say they have faith in God, but how do other others know your faith? By what you do. Faith not in practice is worthless. How do you know what to do if you are not reading your Bible, attending your Church, or having your prayer time? 2 Timothy 3:17 - That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.
Romans 2:6-10 - Who will render to every man according to his deeds: To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life: But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: God gives back to everyone according to what they do. (What you do comes back to you.) The challenge to Christians is are you consistent and not contentious (a self-seeking struggle with God)? Those who are consistent receive: 1. Praise 2. Honor 3. Peace 4. Eternal Life. Those that are contentious (self-seeking) and disobey the truth, but obey unrighteousness receive 1. Anger 2. Violence 3. Trouble 4. Distress.
2 Corinthians 5:10 - For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. Every Christian will get what they are due for good or bad we have done. Every deed comes back to us. Would it not be helpful to read your Bible, attend your Church, and have your prayer time to learn what is good and assist in maintaining your goodness.
John 14:15 - If ye love me, keep my commandments. Christians show their love for God by keeping His commandments. How do I know His commandments if I do not read the Bible? How am I taught or encouraged to keep His commandments if I do not attend Church? How am I convicted of or correct the wrong I am doing if I do not have my prayer time? Romans 14:12 - So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
1 Corinthians 15:58 - Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. Paul challenges each Christian to be: 1. Firm 2. Unmovable 3. At all times an abundance of deeds for God. 4. Knowing your good deeds are not worthless thing done for the Lord. Be consistent, do your good works, and you will not be empty handed.
Luke 9:23 - And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. Jesus taught if you want to be His disciple you need to do three things: 1. Reject one’s own interests 2. Die daily 3. Follow Him 1 Corinthians 15:31 “I protest by your rejoicing which I have in Christ Jesus our Lord, I die daily.” The key word here is daily. The Christian life is a daily struggle that bible reading and prayer time can prepare you for. Galatians 2:20 - I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.
2 Thessalonians 3:13 - But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing. Galatians 6:9 - And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. Paul pleads with Christians not to be weak in good deeds for in a short time good deeds will come to you, if you do not quit. Be consistent and God will not forget about you. Hebrews 6:10 For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.”
